Nano hairstrokes vs microblading

Both create hair-like strokes, but the method is completely different. Microblading uses a hand blade to cut strokes into the skin. Nano hairstrokes use a single fine needle on a digital machine, implanting pigment with far more precision and far less trauma to the skin.

The result: finer, more realistic strokes, better healed retention, less discomfort, and suitability for more skin types — including oily skin, where microblading tends to blur.

How long do they last?

Nano brows typically last 1.5 to 3 years depending on your skin type, lifestyle and sun exposure. A colour refresh appointment every 12–18 months keeps them crisp.

What does the appointment involve?

Your first session at our Mt Eden studio takes around 2.5–3 hours:

1. Consultation and mapping — we design the shape around your facial structure and agree on it together before any needle touches skin
2. Numbing — topical anaesthetic keeps discomfort minimal; most clients describe it as light scratching
3. The strokes — built up layer by layer to mimic your natural hair pattern
4. Aftercare briefing — you leave with a written care guide and our contact for any questions

What does healing look like?

Days 1–3 your brows look darker and bolder than the final result — this is normal. Between days 4–10 light flaking occurs, and the colour softens by roughly 30–40%. The true healed colour settles at around 4–6 weeks, when we see you for a perfecting touch-up session included in your treatment.

How to prepare

• Avoid caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment
• No brow waxing, tinting or tanning in the week prior
• If you use retinol or skin acids, pause them around the brow area for two weeks
• Come as you are — no need to fill in your brows; photos of shapes you like are welcome
